The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.
Duties
The Nutrition Services Representative delivers and collects food trays to patients and performs other related duties in accordance with HACCP guidelines and department policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
Interacts with each patient utilizing established scripting.
Delivers and sets up patient trays and snacks; completes meal rounds to respond quickly to patient requests.
Inventories, assembles, charges and maintains stock and nutritional supplements for patient unit following safe food handling procedures.
Distributes menus, collects and tallies preferences and processes menus for patient satisfaction.
Performs dishwashing and daily cleaning duties as assigned.
Maintains required competencies within deadlines and keeps current with monthly department in-services.
Performs quality improvement activities, including but not limited to, maintaining temperature logs and patient comment cards.
Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific and cultural needs.
Ensures a positive working flow between the patients, nutrition services, food services, and other hospital care givers.
Fills in for the Diet Office Assistant as needed.
Performs other related duties as assigned or necessary.
Qualifications
Education Requirements
High School Diploma/GED preferred.
Minimum Requirements
Previous food services and/or cash handling experience.
Must have basic computer skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Must be 18 years or older to operate slicer, garbage disposal and trash compactor.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent customer service skills. Self-motivated. Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Detail oriented. Ability to carry out responsibilities that conform to hospital core values.
