The primary purpose of this position is to assist the surgeon in the evaluation and management of patients, as well as to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of the surgeon.  The APP will work closely with and assist the surgeon in providing quality, efficient, ongoing, cost-effective care in the outpatient setting. Opportunity for operating room first assisting also exists.

As a Continence Care Specialist, you will evaluate and manage both male and female patients who have a variety of pelvic floor and genitourinary disorders. This may include urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, voiding dysfunction, pelvic floor dysfunction, neurogenic bladder, urethral stricture disease, chronic pelvic pain, chronic cystitis, and sexual dysfunction. 

You will provide care both independently and as part of a professional health care team across very diverse settings. You will specialize in conservative therapies for pelvic floor health conditions. Common practice may include:

  • Initial and follow up office visits for a variety of urologic and urogynecologic disorders.
  • Pre-operative and post-operative evaluation and management.
  • Patient Counseling, education and triage for acute problems.
  • Urodynamic testing
  • Urethral Catheterization, patient education and training.
  • Pelvic floor muscle evaluation
  • Pessary fitting
  • Sacral Neuromodulaton
  • Percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation for urge incontinence.
  • Participation in research and teaching activities in collaboration   with physicians including management of clinical trials.

Candidates will be able to:

  • Understand both physiology and pathophysiology of the lower urinary tract, pelvic organs, nerves, and muscles.
  • Demonstrate ability to utilize evidence-based practice guidelines for urologic and urogynecologic disorders.
  • Develop mastery of advanced assessment skills including: urodynamic testing, pelvic organ prolapse evaluation, and comprehensive evaluation of urinary incontinence and pelvic floor disorders in men and women..
  • Work closely with Urologic Subspecialist Physician in Female Urology/Urogynecology/Voiding Dysfunction and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (Urologists/Urogynecologists/Colorectal Surgery)
  • Work collaboratively with other APP’s in our Department.
  • Facilitate education of patients, families, the public, and the healthcare community regarding Pelvic health.



Physician’s Assistant Degree ­or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a State Board of Nursing approved school with satisfactory completion of an approved nurse practitioner program.

• Prior experience in Urology or Urogynecology is preferred.

• The APP must have DEA registration for controlled substances.

• Practitioner must be certified in CPR

This position requires travels to satellite office locations.
