The Center for Rheumatology & Bone Health is based at Hartford Hospital and our providers have office hours at Hartford HealthCare facilities across the state including Torrington, New Britain, Norwich & Waterford. Our specialists treat inflammatory and immune diseases that can affect joints, muscles, ligaments and even many vital organs.


Rheumatology Advanced Practitioner Role Scope   

The Rheumatology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant practices in an ambulatory setting providing mostly follow up care for rheumatology patients which includes, but is not limited to Arthritis (osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis), Osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases, Gout, pseudogout, Polymyalgia rheumatic, Ankylosing spondylitis and arthritis associated with inflammatory bowel diseases, Lupus, scleroderma and connective tissue disorders, Myositis and myopathy, Lyme disease. Responsibilities will include joint injections, and gaining an understanding of immunosuppressive and biologic therapies. This opportunity is located in a medical office building attached to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital with 2 or 3 physicians on-site at any given time.

Advanced Practitioner Qualifications  

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Master’s program preferred
  • Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut
  • Certification, or eligible to be certified, as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Rheumatology experience is preferred
