For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. JOB SUMMARY
Entry-level position for new graduates immediately following completion of an accredited Radiography Program while awaiting results of certification exam and State of Connecticut Radiographer license.

Under supervision of a registered Diagnostic Imaging Technologist, operates equipment and performs diagnostic imaging procedures by positioning patients and preparing contrast media for imaging procedures on patients. 

New graduates may not occupy this position longer than 120 calendar days after the date of graduation. If the employee fails to pass the certification examination and obtain a license, termination will result.

Qualifications

Education Graduate from an accredited Radiography program    

Licensure, Certification, Registration
•    State of Connecticut Radiographer license within 120 days of graduation date required
•    Basic Life Support (BLS)    

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements  
•    Experience with PACS and digital technology
•    Knowledge of continuous improvement and project management
•    Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude.
•    Intermediate computer skills for use with email, Word and Excel.
•    Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
•    Knowledge of Radiological principal and practices.  Sufficient to be able to perform a wide range of duties relative to the work assigned. 
•    Ability to lead and make sound decisions.
•    Ability to multitask and prioritize.
•    Ability to handle different patient population including difficult patients.
