Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut’s leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. We offers a variety of programs including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools and chemical dependency services. Through our multi-site network of care, we constantly strive to meet its mission in helping people find their way while educating and empowering individuals to participate in their own care and recovery.

The Pharmacy Manager will have responsibilities which will include but are not limited to:

  • Assess and revise clinical policies for the HHC Central Region Pharmacy. Participate in the development of system clinical policies related to medication use.
  • Supports the hospital’s pharmacoeconomic efforts.  Reviews the use of targeted medications for compliance with current pharmacoeconomic programs.
  • Participates in coordination of HHC Pharmacy P&T committee as assigned.
  • Provides drug information, clinical training and staff development to pharmacy, medical, and nursing staffs.  
  • Prepares clinical/cost savings proposals, drug reviews, and system wide protocols as requested for system Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee review. Ensures formulary policies are enforced.
  • Monitors drug usage, identifies target drugs for utilization evaluation and coordinates the collection and analysis of data for the DUE. Develops and monitors quality assurance program for clinical services.
  • Provides guidance and oversight to Pharmacists.
  • Coordinates inpatient and outpatient Medication Management and Transitional Care Pharmacy programs and resources.
  • Evaluates clinical programs and makes recommendations on ways to maximize resources available.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of care for required age-specific populations necessary to carry out safe and effective performance of duties.
  • Coordinates student activities and acts as liaison with schools of pharmacy
  • Assist Residency Director with Pharmacy Resident education and development
  • Evaluates and counsels assigned employees on their work performance.



Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy

Pharm D and Master’s Degree in Business Administration or other area of business focus, Strongly Preferred


Five (5) or more year’s health-system pharmacist experience required. 
Three (3) or more years in a clinical position required. Completion of an ACPE accredited Pharmacy Residency Program preferred.

License and Certification:

Licensed as a registered Pharmacist in Connecticut or eligible to receive licensure within 45 days. 
Certification by a nationally recognized group in a clinical area directly practiced in region (BCPS, BCNSP, BCOP, BCPP, CACP or CDE) strongly preferred.
