JOB SUMMARY:

Assists the HHC Radiation Safety Officer in support of the Radiation Protection Programs throughout Hartford Healthcare Hospital Facilities.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:

Supervised by the HHC Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), ensure proper implementation of radiation protection programs throughout the HHC medical facilities, to include support and guidance for program compliance with State mandated regulatory requirements and appropriate Accreditation requirements for Nuclear Medicine, X-Ray equipment, and the HHC ALARA program. The employee will perform radiation surveys in nuclear medicine departments, perform air monitoring, and audit of radiation safety programs.  

Supervised by the HHC Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), provide radiation safety program support for training in radioactive materials and X-Ray safety and equipment use.

Occupational Monitoring Programs:

-Provide occupational dosimetry program coordination/support as assigned

-Review and summarize the occupational radiation monitoring / ALARA program data for report to the HHC RSO.

Radiation Safety Program Policies and Procedures:

With HHC RSO collaboration, maintain and audit HHC policies and procedures to implement program consistency throughout the HHC radiation safety programs.

Stay informed of state and federal regulations and guidelines relating to radiation health and X-Ray safety.

Assume additional safety and radiation program duties as assigned by the HHC RSO.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Radiological Technology or Medical Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Radiological Sciences, Health Physics or related field preferred.
  • 2-3 Years experience in the field of Medical Radiation and imaging required
  • 5 Years as Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred
  • 5 Years as an X Ray Technologist preferred
  • 5 Years in CT Imaging preferred
  • 5 Years in Fluoroscopy Imaging preferred
  • Certification in Nuclear Medicine Technology or diagnostic imaging preferred
  • Proficient in the English language for reading and writing

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements:

Computing skills include MS Office.
