Opportunity for a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to provide a mix of outpatient care in clinic settings throughout Hartford County, and inpatient care for patients on the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at Hartford Hospital, located in Hartford, CT.

Some highlights of this opportunity include:

  • The Epilepsy Center provides the highest level of care for people with epilepsy.  Our clinics, located throughout the state, bring outstanding care as close as possible to the patient’s home.  Our sophisticated diagnostic resources, including the epilepsy monitoring unit, functional MRI, SPECT and PET imaging, and implanted intracranial electrode monitoring, are centered at Hartford Hospital.  Our team is built around teamwork, respect and providing the best for our patients. 
  • Core duties include managing outpatients in clinic in a model of shared responsibility in partnership with our epileptologist physicians, managing patients admitted to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit to observe their seizures on video EEG in order to provide them with the most accurate diagnosis and appropriate care for achieving seizure control,  working with the epilepsy nurse navigator and epilepsy attending’s to ensure patients achieve appropriate presurgical evaluation for potentially curative epilepsy surgery, and working with the EEG lab manager to oversee the referrals to the epilepsy monitoring unit and opportunities for standardization, growth and improvement within the unit. This includes case presentations at multi-disciplinary Refractory Epilepsy Conference, and assisting with complex inpatient procedures such as Wada tests and Ictal SPECT imaging.

Qualifications

Eligibility to be licensed as the following is required:

  •  Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
  • Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) 

Experience practicing as an Advanced Practitioner is highly preferred.
