Job Summary
 

Under the direction of the clinical director, clinical coordinator, Registered Nurse (RN), the ED TECH will assist in the delivery of care to patients and their family. The ED TEC H fulfills these duties to contribute to the continuity and quality of care that fosters the best interest and well-being of the patient and family.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:

High School graduate or equivalent
Experience:
Corpsman/Medic, presently enrolled in Registered Nurse Preparation Program having completed one semester of a Medical/Surgical rotation, or at least one (1) year of acute care experience.
License and Certification:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire. Ability to obtain Crisis Intervention Prevention (CPI) within 90 days of hire.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Associates degree
Experience:
Phlebotomy experience. Computer and clerical experience. Current Backus PCT with two (2) years of experience.
License and Certification:
Current State of Connecticut EMT certification or current State of Connecticut CNA certification. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
Working knowledge of basic patient care procedures. Strong customer service orientation. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with patients, departments, employees, physicians and managers. Must be organized, flexible and a team player. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Ability to handle multiple priorities. Demonstrates initiative in all job related activities. 


PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING
Requires the ability to recognize problem situations and refer them to the appropriate staff member. Work is performed in accordance with instructions and procedures, but incumbents must organize the work and set priorities. Requires the ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently with some direction. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
