Shift Details: holiday/weekend/weekday/night call on rotation

We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.

Job Description:
Assists with maintaining an efficient technical operation in the GI lab with the goal of optimal patient care during diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopy and bronchoscopy. Demonstrates appropriate clinical practice and promotes patient advocacy. Responds to hospital emergencies as required. Provides unrestricted on call coverage and may be subject to call for emergency response.

 

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
One (1) year previous experience as a patient care technician, hospital corpsman or CNA required.
License and Certification:
CPR certification required. Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Associate degree
Experience:
Previous experience in specialty
License and Certification:
Professional certification


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
Working knowledge of medical terminology. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers. Ability to read and understand oral and written material and effectively communicate technical information. Ability to prioritize daily work assignments. Must be organized, flexible and a team player. Ability to work in a stressful environment. Basic computer knowledge in order to enter/retrieve data.


PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING

Ability to react and perform under strict timelines and/or emergency situations. Requires the ability to exercise discretion and use good judgment to perform duties promptly and consistently. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. Requires the ability to recognize problem situations and refer them to the appropriate staff member.
