The Hospitalist Services at Hartford HealthCare (HHC) are dedicated to serving patients admitted to the hospital as well as providing consultative services to surgical patients. HHC Hospitalists engage in clinical care, teaching, research or leadership in the field of general hospital medicine. Our team provides the highest quality medical care for patients whose primary care physicians do not round at the hospital.


Hospitalist Advanced Practitioner Role Scope   


The Nurse Practitioner (APRN) / Physician Assistant will provide care for the Hartford HealthCare Central Region which includes The Hospital of Central Connecticut, MidState Medical Center, and Bradley Memorial Hospital. Responsibilities will include admissions and providing cross coverage for the Hospitalist Team at night. The Advanced Practitioner / Physician Assistant is responsible for the clinical management of patients, assuring timely communication and comprehensive collaboration, and is also responsible for Inpatient Management and Hospital based medical care.

Advanced Practitioner Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant, or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut
  • Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as an Acute Care Advanced Practice Registered Nurse required 
  • Hospitalist experience preferred
