Job Summary

 

The Medical Assistant in the Cardiac Device Clinic will work closely with RN staff to manage the patients with implanted pacemakers, cardioverter defibrillators and loop monitors.  They will assist with EKG’s and scheduling of clinic and remote appointments.  They must be able to travel to satellite clinics across the state as needed. 

Responsible for full range of administrative support in a medical office setting providing duties from scheduling appointments, calling pharmacies, billing patients and verifying precertification’s to triaging phone calls from patients, physicians and insurance companies, while maintaining patient and business confidentiality to ensure that the needs of the internal and external customers are met. Reports to assigned supervisor.

The Medical assistant works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Provider. The Medical Assistant performs delegated functions as a member of the patient care team to provide a variety of multi-skilled services. These activities contribute to meeting the health care, safety and comfort needs of patients, and are performed in accordance with all existing regulatory, state and company standards, policies and procedures. (Duties of the Medical Assistant can vary from center to center). Reports to the assigned supervisor.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Medical Administrative Assistant certification preferred.
  • One to two years’ experience in a medical office setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Basic keyboarding skills with proficiency in use of personal computer programs.
  • Knowledge of medical coding preferred i.e.: CPT and ICD9 coding
  • Excellent communication skills.
