Natchaug Hospital is Eastern Connecticut’s leading provider for children, adolescents and adults with mental illness and substance abuse addictions. We offer a variety of programs including inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment for court-involved teenage girls, geriatric services, clinical day treatment schools and chemical dependency services. Job Summary

Carries out surveillance, prevention and control activities related to the transmission of infections and potential pathogens into healthcare environment. Responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the Infection Control Program at Natchaug Hospital, including data collection, reporting, monitoring and prevention/treatment of infections. Develops and implements curriculum for nursing and mental health worker staff orientation and professional development as well as training for all staff in compliance with Natchaug's Pandemic Influenza and COVID – 19 Plans.


  • Connecticut licensed Registered Nurse required
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required
  • Experience working in psychiatric setting and past experience as a training facilitator
  • Experience in medical / surgical nursing and knowledge of the principles and practices of infection control
  • Expertise with Joint Commission and other regulatory agency standards regarding infection control
  • Demonstrates an effective teaching style
  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Computer proficiency and keyboarding required
