Job Summary:

The Molecular Technologist performs molecular diagnostic genetic techniques on multiple sample types to identify genetic abnormalities to assist in physician diagnosis and treatment.


  • Performs molecular diagnostic techniques to include genomic DNA and RNA isolations, PCR reactions, capillary electrophoresis, gel electrophoresis, operation of molecular instrumentation, DNA sequencing and data analysis. Organizes and maintains data storage and report templates for medical director.
  • Promotes a continuous learning environment by providing education and guidance to students and staff as required. Participates in continuing education whenever possible.
  • Adheres to all Laboratory policies and procedures, including Compliance, HIPPA, CQI, OSHA, state licensing and accreditation guidelines. Complies with CAP proficiency requirements. Reviews policy and procedure manuals on an annual basis.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude and appearance at all times. Consistently demonstrates flexibility and good judgment when making decisions. Confer with coworkers and supervisor as necessary.
  • Complete all required training and competencies on time.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
  • Engaged in H3W by actively and positively participating in work group meetings to improve processes, patient care, quality and satisfaction from identification of the areas for improvement to resolution.



  • BS in Molecular Diagnostic Genetics or related degree with a minimum of 6 months laboratory experience in molecular techniques.   
  • Must obtain Molecular Certification within 18 months of hire.
