For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.
Executes the clinical operation of the Employee Health Department in servicing the work-related injury, illness and exposure care of the employees of HHC and its Business Units. Responsible for clinicians providing direct care to HHC and East Region Business Unit employees and external contract business partners. Provides consultative and direct support as required for affiliates regarding management of medical clearance of new hires, workers’ compensation case management, and compliance with regulatory statutes. Ensures regional regulatory compliance with OSHA Standards and CDC Guidelines for healthcare workers. Review, revise and implement worker disease and injury prevention and compliance programs, including TB surveillance, blood borne pathogens, hearing conservation, and environmental safety. Develops and writes policies and procedures.
Education: Diploma or certificate in nursing; BSN preferred
Prior supervisory experience in an Occupational Health background.
Three to five years RN experience.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and CDC guidelines.
Knowledge of infectious disease and worker safety program requirements for a healthcare setting.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: CT RN License and BLS certification required. CCM, COHN-S DOT BAT training preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
Working knowledge of MS Office suite
Organizational skills and ability to prioritize
Ability to work independently
Experience in preparation of reports, graphs and spreadsheets
