The EMS Operations and Care Coordination Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, prioritizing, and directing daily operations of the hospital’s transitions in care via ambulance.    This position is responsible for helping to facilitate continuous throughput of patients from all points of entry from Charlotte Hungerford Hospital by utilizing effective verbal communication, reviewing technology that supports patient placement activities, and swift clinical decision making. This Manager will work directly with Bed and Case Managers, ED clinical teams and the HHC Care Logistics Center to act as the liaison between these individuals and EMS agencies.  Additionally, this individual will work directly with the hospital’s EMS Coordinator, HHC EMS leadership, and HHC administration to help identify, plan, and execute strategic growth initiatives pertaining to the development of EMS and the relationship of EMS with CHH and HHC.   This position reports to the hospital’s Vice President of Operations and the HHC System Director for EMS Network Development.



  • Current CT EMT-Paramedic certification/licensure
  • 10+ years of EMS experience
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • Experience in the CT DPH, OEMS regulatory process
  • Understanding of insurance authorization
  • Demonstrated ability to direct and triage in a highly fluid dynamic operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and assess and triage clinical critical patient needs.
  • Excellent prioritization and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking, communications and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement, support and effectively monitor change required.
  • Ability to collaborate with all layers of the management/administrative teams within Hartford HealthCare.
