Job Schedule: Part Time
Standard Hours: 8
Job Shift: Shift 1
Shift Details: Every other weekend, 7am - 3:30pm Flexible to pick up additional hours

The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.

Duties: 
Works in conjunction with the department supervisor to organize, oversee and ensure the daily operation of the Phlebotomy / Specimen Processing sections of the laboratory.

Qualifications

  • Oversees the staff on a daily basis to ensure accuracy and timely turnaround of sample      processing
  • Provides input on performance evaluations and employee development
  • Training and oversight of new employees
  • Scheduling
  • Ordering supplies and inventory control
  • Participates in interviewing potential candidates and selection of personnel.
  • Creation and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures
  • Trained and certified in specimen packaging and handling
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agency requirements
  • Ensures compliance with all lab and hospital safety practices and policies
  • Oversees miscellaneous and manual billing
  • Performs special projects and other duties as needed
  • High school diploma
  • 3 years Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing experience
