Performs Mammographic & Bone Densitometry procedures utilizing ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Operates mammography, stereotactic & dexa equipment, prepares diagnostic room, equipment, supplies and medications as needed for patient care. Provides patient services, adult through geriatric, using imaging modalities in an efficient professional manner and with sensitivity to patient needs. Accurately performs all required documentation in the EMR & PACS. Lead Mammographer duties include; maintaining compliance with ACR & MQSA regulations. Assists with exam schedule and responds to patient/physician concerns/questions. May also perform other various duties pertaining to the Department of Diagnostic Imaging.
Education: Graduate of a JCERT accredited program for Radiologic Technologists.
Experience: More than one year experience as a Radiologic Technologist and Mammographer required; more than three (3) years preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R) (M) rerquired; ARRT (R)(M)(BD) preferred. Current State of Connecticut Radiographer license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including/opening and reading email, RIS, Word, & basic internet use).
Working knowledge of all Radiology procedures and protocols. Stays current with MQSA/ACR regulatory updates and policy/procedure changes. Performs QA/QC functions and maintains accurate records. Must be organized, flexible and a team player. Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in a stressful environment. Demonstrates ability to function independently and successfully implement patient safety and patient satisfaction principles. Basic knowledge of windows based software.
