The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.

The Pharmacy IT Technician is responsible for pharmacy information system maintenance and the research and resolution of pharmacy billing issues.  Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:

  • Performs billing for all intravenous products (e.g. chemotherapy) requiring a manual billing process.
  • Researches and resolves all billing issues noted on charge error reports or charge suspense reports.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the pharmacy information system, including inpatient and employee prescriptions, formulary and charge master, and backup procedures.
  • Edits PharmNet formulary as needed to insure bar-code readability.
  • Performs manual billing of charges for emergency department patients admitted as inpatients.
  • Maintains records and generates documentation required for departmental billing compliance reporting.
  • Assists with automated dispensing system configuration and monitoring.
  • Seeks opportunities to increase technology knowledge and interact with peers from other organizations to identify opportunities for improvement in technology and technology related clinical processes.

 

Qualifications

Experience:
•Prior experience in a hospital environment strongly preferred

Education:
•High School Diploma required or equivalent.
• Completion of Pharmacy Technician program is preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
• Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification required
• Pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection within 30 days of hire and by March 31st of each year.
