The creation of the HHC System Support Office recognizes the work of a large and growing group of employees whose responsibilities are continually evolving so that we and our departments now work on behalf of the system as a whole, rather than a single member organization.

With the creation of our new umbrella organization we now have our own identity with a unique payroll, benefits, performance management system, service recognition programs and other common practices across the system.

Department: Interoperability

The main focus of the department is to enable data flow between different information systems, devices or applications to connect, exchange, share data securely and seamlessly with in and across organizational boundaries using healthcare industry standards and protocols.

The Interoperability team facilitates integrations across Hartford HealthCare between various systems regardless of data’s origin or destination or applications and ensures data is readily available, usable to share without intervention by end user.


Position Summary

Responsible for creating and supporting HL7, X12, FHIR and other healthcare EDI interfaces that support patient care thru out Hartford Healthcare.


 Responsibilities

  • Responsible for analysis, design, development, implementation of HL7 interfaces.
  • Ability to work effectively with business owners, application and clinical analysts to identify interface scope.
  • Clear understanding of HL7 transactions, manipulating HL7 and other EDI interface messages.
  • Participates in functional testing and issue resolution of new and existing interfaces.
  • Troubleshooting EDI processing errors, identifying and resolving issues and documenting steps.
  • Maintain high level of technical competence in areas of responsibility during design and execution of projects by interacting with application analysts, vendors, and management.
  • Data conversions and backload processes to convert and load data in to Epic.
  • Clear understanding and adoption of change management process and protocols.
  • Maintain all required certifications for the job.
  • Complies with established policies, procedures and objectives of department/organization.
  • Oncall responsibility – providing effective monitoring and troubleshooting of complex issues for all operational interfaces.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Team Lead or Manager.

Qualifications

Education


Minimum: Bachelor’s degree (relevant 4-6 years of work experience may be considered in lieu of)

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or Healthcare information technology or related field

 

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • Working knowledge of state and federal healthcare information technology laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently with accuracy and a positive attitude in a team environment.
  • Proven analytical thought process, problem solving and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, customer service and conflict resolution skills.

Work Experience

Minimum – Three to Four years of relevant experience

 

Licenses and Certifications

Preferred 

  • Epic Interface Administrator (Bridges) Certification
  • Corepoint Integration Professional.
