Shift Details: 36 hours /week with on call rotation for weekends. ICU experience required. ACLS and BLS required

The bonus is for Registered Nurse hired to a full-time position or part-time position (regular scheduled hours 24 hours or more per week).

Full Time:  $5,000 36-40 hours

Part Time: $2,500 24-35hrs

Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiology nurse provides high quality and cost-effective nursing care to patients across all imaging modalities within the Radiology Department.  Applies all phases of care for invasive radiology procedures; pre-procedure, intra-procedure and post-procedure. Demonstrates competency in advanced patient assessment skills of all body systems (neurological, cardiac, pulmonary, GI, GU, skin and musculoskeletal). Functions as clinically competent in procedural sedation, administering conscious sedation and understanding the sedation recovery phase, reversal agents and airway recovery skills.  Delegates and supervises work of PAA and PCA.  Reports to Unit Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Appropriately assesses and plans patient care by: accurately and reliably obtaining, assessing and interpreting data;  identifying and  documenting problems and expected outcomes based on a plan of care for complex, multi-variance population of  patients;  utilizing scientific knowledge base and appropriate physiological/psychological/social/cultural/spiritual concepts;  organizing care and interventions; and identifying appropriate resources in order to meet individual and family health goals.
  • Using research-based recommendations, coordinates and implements patient-centered care according to a plan of  care with variances  by: assistance in establishing, contributing, and following plans of Health Care Team and educating patient/family about the plan of care; ensuring documentation and communication among caregivers; delegating and ensuring satisfactory completion of  activities with Unlicensed Assistance Personnel and peers ( when in resource role) ; and educating patient/family to meet established health goals in order that all patients/families receive coordinated seamless care.
  • Using reliable tools and measures, evaluates and documents patient/family responses, (including post-discharge/post transfer follow-up via measurement of nursing-sensitive outcomes),  identifies complex variances from anticipated outcomes, and appropriately revises plan of care according to patient/family needs, monitoring outcomes across shifts for unit based stay  and functioning as patient advocate as needed.
  • Provides/models quality patient/customer service by: demonstrating proficiency in basic computer skills such as operating clinical display and logging on, identification and navigation of clinical display, utilization of rosters and charts, troubleshooting and logging off, and email; demonstrating a willingness to accommodate all customers at all  times; maintaining an awareness of patient needs and utilizing initiative to respond to those needs; utilizing tact, discretion, and compassion in responding to patient/family needs; maintaining confidentiality of all patient information; and functioning in a collaborative manner with other members of the team to ensure quality patient care.
  • Contributes to care improvement by participating in: coaching, and acting as resource for peers and other Radiology personnel.   
  • Assumes responsibility for self-improvement, in collaboration with the leadership team by identifying, communicating and seeking resources or instruction/validation to meet own learning needs, and is self-directed in maintaining currency of validations.
  • Demonstrates and understands the Role of a “Procedural Sedation” Nurse for Invasive Procedures. Must be Competent in Administering Conscious Sedation and understands the Recovery phase for post conscious sedation. Understands situations/scenarios for Reversal agents and airway recovery skills.
  • The RN must be able to work closely with Anesthesia in recovering adults and pediatric populations post anesthesia administration. 
  • Participates in all phases of care for Invasive Procedures-Pre-Procedure, Intra-Procedure and Post Procedure.
  • Demonstrates competency in advanced assessment skills of patient (Neuro, Cardiac, Pulmonary, GI, GU, Skin and musculoskeletal).
  • Demonstrates competencies in Nursing practice (knowledge and behaviors), utilizing research behaviors, to meet age-specific patient needs.
  • Take “on-call” shifts and care for any emergency cases on all levels of acuity after- hours and work independently with the Interventional Radiology Attending Physicians.
  • Needs to demonstrate independence, good clinical judgment and practice with experienced safety skills. 



  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required)
  • 2 years Critical Care experience required.
  • Interventional Radiology experience preferred.
  • Must be collaborative and flexible working in a close team environment.
  • ACLS Required
