Job Shift: Shift 1
Shift Details: Monday -Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm. Weekend and holiday on-call as needed.

The Lead Radiation Therapist will be responsible for the day to day operations  of the Radiation Oncology Department. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:

  • Continuously monitor staff performance to ensure high quality services, and compliance standards by review work performance, addressing performance issues in partnership with Management, and completing annual performance appraisals.
  • Provide guidance and continuous, timely, and specific feedback to staff to facilitate the flow of information to enable employees to be successful.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with staff, and other department leaders to foster trust, understanding, and respect.
  • Provides oversight for the orientation, training and education of staff. Assist with the development of in-service education programs
  • Maintains accurate data, logs, statistics and schedules on patients and staff.
  • Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns.
  • Administer radiation therapy as prescribed by the physician.
  • Observe the clinical progress of the radiation oncology patient, use clinical decision making skills to recognize and report any signs of complications.
  • Utilize treatment accessories to accurately reproduce the radiation treatment.
  • Adhere to radiation safety procedure protocol. Perform Time Outs at key points of the Radiation Therapy Treatment procedure to ensure that the correct site and treatment is performed on the correct patient using the correct equipment, technique and daily dose
  • Construct immobilization devices and employ custom blocking techniques that are conducive to conformal radiation therapy.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging equipment for precise tumor localization. Assists with the development of the Quality Assurance Programs for treatment and simulation procedures

Qualifications

Work Experience: 
3+ Years experience as a Radiation Therapist
Previously leadership experience strongly preferred

Education: 
Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program

Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Connecticut State Radiographer’s License

ARRT (T) registration in Radiation Therapy.
