Job Summary:

The Food Farmacy Manager will to ensure the needs of the patients, families and staff within the program are met and executed within the mission. Food Farmacy Program Manager will be responsible for implementing, executing, and reporting on all aspects of the program and overseeing the community food pantry initiative in concert with the clinical teams to provide the best outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Develop, manage, and maintain relationships with local department managers, social work/care coordinators, supply chain (deliveries), informatics team (data management) as well as the Hartford Hospital executive leadership team.


  • Manage food inventory and place weekly orders in collaboration with Foodshare. Assure the safety of food storage procedures.


  • Be the primary internal and public champion for the Food Farmacy.  Also be the liaison between Hartford Hospital leadership and Foodshare.


  • Serve as a health advocate for farmacy customers in creating and maintaining connections with dietician, social work and other healthcare colleagues.


  • Participate as part of the D, E & I council at Hartford Hospital.         


  • Represent the Food Farmacy to the community and attend local events that address hunger awareness and education.


  • Work closely with hospital leadership and philanthropy in conducting fund-raising efforts.


  • Take a primary role in seeking grants and securing outside funding resources.





  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years of leadership and management experience. Familiarity with the needs of Hartford’s inner city community and public policy issues related to food availability.
  • Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Food pantry certification or ability to obtain this credential through Foodshare
  • Master’s degree in education, social services, or public policy
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult education and group facilitation; experience with online learning and related platforms (Google Classroom, Zoom, etc.)
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.
