The Senior Strategic Planning Analyst is responsible for supporting an array of activities that advance the strategic vision of Hartford HealthCare. This highly visible and analytical position reports to the Manager of Strategic Planning and has direct mentorship from the Senior Director of Strategic Planning & Business Development and will work closely with executive leadership in driving strategic initiatives throughout the health system. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:

  • Produce market activity reports which support the Hartford HealthCare hospital’s and service line decision-making. Reports would identify market trends and include recommendations on opportunities for system growth, in addition to insights on competitive activity.
  • Assist the System, Regional, and Institute Planning Directors with the creation of proformas and business plans to support the growth and future needs of the Hartford HealthCare System.
  • Create visual analytics, presentations, and data analysis through utilization of Excel, Qlikview, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, Maptitude, and other software.
  • Assist in the development and financial analysis of industry competitors and potential partners, as well as analyses to inform of the impact of potential alignment scenarios in the market. Develop data-rich maps to visualize community health needs as well as the health care landscape.
  • Assist the compilation and submission of media, industry, and regulatory surveys on behalf of Hartford HealthCare. Oversee regional responses to surveys to ensure coordinated efforts. Compile system-wide statistics for use in the annual State of the System report, as well as for other miscellaneous requests.



  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, healthcare administration, business administration, or another related field
  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, healthcare administration, business administration, or another related field preferred, but not required


  • Minimum of 3 years progressive experience required in a hospital or healthcare system setting
  • Experience with Sharepoint, CHIME, QlikView, Tableau, Maptitude, and/or Crimson Market Advantage preferred, but not required
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:

  • Experience in data analysis and/or business development
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, specifically income statements and balance sheets
  • Ability to understand and create proformas and ROIs
  • Demonstrated ability to work with data, interpret trends, and present findings to project stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare industry
  • Experience with Qlikview or Tableau, preferred but not required
