The Institute of Living, one of the first mental health centers in the United States, remains one of America’s leading not-for-profit centers for patient care, research and education in the fields of behavioral, psychiatric and addiction disorder. Through our dedicated, experienced and skilled clinicians, we provide patients and their families with the highest quality of personalized care. Programs are offered for children, adolescents and adults struggling with mental illness as well as offering services specializing in Anxiety, Eating Disorders, and Geriatric Services.
The Director has responsibility for the operations and clinical programing of Adult Ambulatory Services at The Institute of Living. These services include Partial Hospitalization programs (PHP), Intensive Outpatient programs (IOP) and Outpatient programs (OP) for an adult population. The Director is responsible for the planning, management and oversight of Adult Ambulatory Services, identifying opportunities for growth and operationalizing those opportunities. As a member of the IOL leadership team the Director will work in collaboration with the Vice President of Clinical Operations, Assistant Medical Director of Adult Ambulatory Services and the Director of Nursing for Behavioral Health.
Directs the development and expansion of program services, helps to identify market opportunities and steers the process towards pursuit of market goals and opportunities
Works through the IOL leadership team, management team and medical leadership of the hospitals, serving as a resource to help reduce costs, enhance revenues, achieve effective utilization and quality goals and objectives, and analyze and utilize information to develop and support management decisions
Develops and fosters an effective collaboration between clinical departments, divisions, medical staff leadership, faculty and other affiliated services (inside and outside of the hospital) to ensure an integrated approach to providing services and fulfilling the hospital’s Adult Ambulatory Services objectives
Responsible for managing a budget within established guidelines; including allocation of resources, overtime utilization and approval
Ensures that standards of efficiency of intake and service provision, including referral source liaison and development, are met to maximize revenue and achieve budget goals. Directly oversees patient throughput, problem solves complex situations and liaisons at the agency level with referral sources
Provide leadership and management for direct reports, including staff training and development, allocation of staffing resources, work flow management, performance monitoring, pro-active problem resolution and corrective action when necessary, in accordance with established policies and procedures
Ensures that client records are timely and thorough, incidents are well documented and reported according to Joint Commission, DCF and other regulatory guidelines
Plans and monitors program design, delivery and documentation to be in compliance with all regulatory standards. Ensure that all clinical staff have and maintain necessary qualifications, licenses and certifications
Monitors and reports key quality improvement indicators and develops strategies for attaining Quality Improvement goals. Designs, oversees and participates in Quality Improvement activities
Responsible for revenue cycle performance and the overall financial performance. Oversees authorization denial and collection processes to ensure maximization of revenue and to ensure clients receive appropriate clinical services
Master's Degree in behavioral health is required
Five plus years of experience working with a behavioral health population
Two plus years in a leadership position
CT licensure as a LCSW, LMFT, APRN or psychologist is required
Experience with chemical dependency population preferred
Visible leader with excellent interpersonal communication skills who relates well with all levels of the organization
A creative, forward thinking leader with the proven ability to engage, coach and mentor direct reports, colleagues and other key stakeholders
