Shift Details: primarily M-F Days, other shifts as necessary

St. Vincent’s Medical Center is a 473-bed Magnet recognized community teaching hospital committed to continuing Christ’s healing ministry through its service to the greater Bridgeport, CT community. Our Emergency Department has a Trauma Level II designation, and is a primary Stroke and STEMI center. Our 66 beds are divided into multiple zones, including a separate Observation Unit, Fast-Track area, and Behavioral Health Crisis Unit. We pride ourselves on a culture of inclusivity, service and teamwork which extends throughout the department, from Providers who staff the unit 24/7 to our Unit Secretaries and Techs, who provide invaluable services to our patients.

Job Summary:
• Coordinates the daily operations of staff to ensure operational units are running effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities:
• Provides oversight for multiple hospital departments in the absence of unit management. Addresses patient care, staffing, and any other issues that may arise.
• Assumes responsibility for supervision and administrative decision making for the care and coordination of nursing and patient care services during the evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Ensures that hospital policies and procedures are followed.
• Participates in patient care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Directs and coordinates nursing activities and support services by serving as a resource person in management situations needing immediate resolution in accordance with hospital policy.
• In partnership with the nursing management team insures that staffing resources are deployed appropriately.
• Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of  Public Health obtained prior to start date.
  • BSN Required
  • 3-5 years acute hospital experience required, at least 2 yrs of which must be in an Emergency Room setting
  • Active BLS and ACLS certifications within 60 days of hire.
