For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.
Assesses medical status of anticipated new employees in compliance with Hospital and regulatory requirements. Ensures hospital regulatory compliance with OSHA Standards and CDC Guidelines for healthcare workers. Review, revise and implement worker disease and injury prevention and compliance programs, including TB surveillance, blood borne pathogens, hearing conservation, and environmental safety. Develop and deliver training. Report, document and retain records according to regulatory and hospital standards.
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years RN experience required. Experience and certification in Occupational Health Nursing preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and CDC guidelines. Knowledge of infectious disease and worker safety program requirements for a healthcare setting.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Active State of CT RN license required. DOT BAT training preferred.
Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Bilingual preferred.
