School Advanced Practitioner Role Scope
The School-Based Health Center (SBHC) Nurse Practitioner works independently using clinical knowledge and judgment to provide care to students who are part of the SBHC, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations. The Nurse Practitioner will work as an adjunct to the student’s primary care provider and medical team and will perform important tasks including conducting physicals, administering medications/immunizations, ordering tests, urgent care needs, reproductive care, and educating patients/caregivers about preventive care.
The advanced practitioner will provide age-specific care, rendering a comprehensive range of services to the student including health promotion and health maintenance.
