St. Vincent’s Medical Center Division of Pain Management specializes in the evaluation and treatment of patients with acute, chronic or oncology-related pain conditions. We combine patient-centered care with sophisticated diagnostic and state-of-the-art treatment procedures.Because a wide range of conditions can cause pain, our multidisciplinary team includes specialists in pain medicine, anesthesia, internal medicine, orthopedics, neurology, radiology, psychiatry, physical and occupational therapy, and complementary medicine. In this collaborative atmosphere, specialists work with patients and their primary healthcare provider to diagnose the problem, set individualized goals, and design a customized plan for pain management treatment.
Advanced Practitioner Role Scope
Advanced Practitioners provide initial consultations and on-going follow up care for pain management patients within both inpatient and outpatient settings
Inpatient responsibilities include providing the initial evaluation on any unit throughout the hospital, collaborating with multiple specialties to create a treatment plan, and on-going monitoring of patients while they are in the inpatient acute care setting
Outpatient responsibilities include follow up appointments to reassess patients and medication refills
Pain Management advanced practitioners work with a wide array of patients including but not limited to oncology / cancer, orthopedics, pre-op, and post op
Primary site is at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, and will include a secondary site in Fairfield

Qualifications
Advanced Practitioner Requirements
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Master’s program
Licensed, or eligible to be licensed, as a Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut
Certification or eligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or National Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)
Experience within critical care, neurology, or oncology highly preferred
An in-depth knowledge of medications, and of the process for both inpatient and ambulatory care highly preferred
