Hartford HealthCare Wound Care

Specializing in the successful treatment of non-healing wounds, we are the first step in helping to manage and heal difficult, non-healing wounds. We specialize in the therapeutic healing of chronic wounds regardless of their cause – diabetes, poor circulation or other conditions. We offer advanced treatments, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Our team of providers and nurses is dedicated to treating wounds, including many that have resisted healing after months and even years of traditional treatment.


Wound Care Advanced Practitioner Role Scope   

The wound care Nurse Practitioner or wound care Physician Assistant will practice in an ambulatory outpatient setting providing comprehensive diagnosis and wound assessment of patients, in addition to hyperbaric treatments. Responsibilities include:

  • Perform procedures such as wound debridement, biopsies, application of skin biologics and substitutes
  • Ordering appropriate lab tests, imaging studies, radiographic and other cardiac imaging studies, interpret lab, imaging studies and others.
  • Management of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy treatments
  • With the inter-professional Care Team, coordinate care of assigned patients including nursing care, nutrition, medications, dressings and adjunctive wound therapies
  • Review patient charts, write progress notes, tabulate data, and complete other required medical record documentation


Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am – 4:30pm

Wound Care Advanced Practitioner Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Master’s program
  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut
  • Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), or Physician Assistant (PA)
  • Wound Care or Surgical experience is highly preferred
  • Experience practicing as a licensed APP is required
