Job Summary

The Performance Improvement Analyst performs systematic and objective performance improvement activities for both Clinical and Non-Clinical area. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Provides data abstraction from hospital applications and inputs into internal and external databases to support publicly reported measures and other performance improvement activities.
  • Interprets regulatory specifications of publicly reported data
  • Generates analytical reports with statistical quality control tools for specialized and generic performance improvement activities.
  • Utilizes technical expertise in information systems and software to generate reports.
  • Coordinates ongoing screening, collection, and analysis of data/information.
  • Identifies problems that have an impact on patient care and the clinical performance of members of the hospital staff.
  • Assists in performance improvement activities for the purpose of monitoring quality of care in order to meet regulatory standards.
  • Initiates the development of reports using  ICD 10 and CPT codes and coordinates data collection and analysis for various hospitals approved projects.
  • Performs specific performance improvement activities necessary for the clinical and administrative staffs to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of patient care in order to meet regulatory requirements (e.g. DPH, JCAHO, CMS).
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient records results and other performance improvement outcomes.
  • Maintains records of performance improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Coordinates medical record audits for state, federal, and/or managed care review.



Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred

● One to three years previous medical data experience or equivalent medical terminology knowledge.
Knowledge of quality improvement methods, tools, and techniques

● Expert level use of MS Excel to include report generation, data abstraction
●Familiarity with ICD 10 & CPT codes
