St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital.

Position Summary: Performs a variety of administrative duties to support the Nursing Service Office

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Composes, types and transcribes correspondence, forms, and reports as required.
  2. Receives and screens telephone calls, and handles general inquiries. • Assist Nursing Supervisor with staffing and scheduling of Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants for inpatient units and some procedural areas.
  3. Maintain electronic data sets of call-outs, cancels and electronic filing systems. 
  4. Orders supplies.
  5. Proficiently coordinates communication and information management activities to support Nursing Service Office activities.
  6. Maintains records, bulletin board and all postings to ensure a smooth flow of communication related to departmental activity and provides information and support to department.
  7. Demonstrates ability to be customer focused and able to effectively interact with a diverse population.
  8. Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education: High School or GED is required. Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred.


Work Experience:

  • Two(2) or more years secretarial experience.
  • Experience in a medical office, healthcare facility or hospital setting preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Outlook required and ability to quickly learn other proprietary databases.
