Programs are offered for children, adolescents and adults struggling with mental illness as well as offering services specializing in Anxiety, Eating Disorders, and Geriatric Services.

The Young Adult Services Program at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital is pleased to announce a position opening for a full time health or clinical psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) with experience in medical settings to support a new Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) specialty track for young adults (ages 18-26) with co-occurring psychiatric and medical conditions. This new IOP has received a significant donation from a donor who strongly supports and champions efforts to bring psychiatric and medical care together. Young Adult Services is a growing and dynamic part of the IOL/HH’s Ambulatory Services which is a component of Hartford HealthCare’s Behavioral Health Network.

Job Summery
This psychologist will work in the IOP on the Institute of Living campus providing outpatient behavioral health services – group, family and individual therapies – to a young adult population. Clinical duties include: Conducting intake sessions for referred patients, conducting regular group therapy throughout the program week and family and individual therapy as indicated, developing appropriate disposition plans for discharging patients with the support of our case manager. Administrative and other duties include: significant participation in the development of the group program curriculum, formally presenting the new program to potential referral sources both within and outside HHC, participating in the marketing of this new program, clinical documentation in a shared electronic medical record, participation in weekly staff meetings and huddles, and outreach to outside providers and the community. As a teaching hospital, participation in Training is highly encouraged and may include supervising psychology postdoctoral fellows and interns, psychiatric residents, and other disciplines. Participation in Research activities is also encouraged and may include outcome studies with this population and collaborating with internal and external colleagues on publications related to this work.


 • Doctorate of Philosophy in Psychology (PhD.) or Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D.) from an APA accredited institution.

• Completion of an   APA approved internship in Clinical Psychology.

• Completion of one year post internship supervisory experience.

• Licensed or license-eligible for independent practice Psychology in the State of Connecticut.

• Training and experience in a medical setting

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

*This position requires someone with a background in the interface between medical and behavioral health.
