The Dr. Sultan Ahamed Radiation Therapy Center is part of the Hartford Healthcare Cancer Institute. We are dedicated to providing our patients with state of the art, comprehensive radiation therapy for their cancer diagnoses.

Backus Hospital offers the very best cancer care in a community hospital setting. Backus Hospital, as part of the Hartford Healthcare Cancer Institute, earned the distinction of Integrated Network Cancer Program Accreditation from the Commission on Cancer with Bronze-Level Commendation. Our program is also recognized by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancer (NAPBC).

The Department of Radiation Oncology has been providing high-quality radiation therapy to the greater Norwich community and is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The department features 2 Elekta linear accelerators (a Versa HD and a Synergy with Agility MLC), and a Phillips Brilliance Big Bore CT simulator. We perform advanced procedures such as Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT) with AlignRT, Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). Integrative medicine, nutritional support, social work, cancer registry, as well as nurse navigation are also part of our comprehensive program.

The Radiation Therapy Manager will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Backus Hopsital Radiation Oncology Department. The Radiation Therapy Manager will oversee a collaborative interdisciplinary team, consisting of Radiation Therapists, Nurses, and Administrative Staff. All while focusing on a patient centered care model in a richly diverse work space.


Education Requirements:
• Bachelors of Science required

Minimum Requirements:
• 5 years clinical experience in Radiation Oncology, RTT preferred
• Eligible for Connecticut Radiation Therapist License
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
