Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, and within the context of the Nursing Professional Practice Framework, the LPN provides quality and cost-effective direct care for patients/families within a unit, service or other primary area of practice. Collaborates with members of health care team to assist patients in achieving established outcomes of care. Reports to Nurse Manager. 

Qualifications

·       Minimum of two years nursing experience in clinical specialty area.

·       Minimum two years in homecare

 

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

 

·    Obtain Wound/Ostomy certification within 6 months of hire

·    Current Connecticut Licensed Practical Nurse license required. Specialization and/or specific work experience may be required. 

 

Education:

 

·    Associates degree, diploma in Nursing or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

·    Wound/Ostomy specialty certification

 

 

All New Graduate RNs will participate in a year-long Nurse Residency Program (NRP) with a curriculum proven to improve decision-making competence and confidence, nursing leadership and critical thinking skills, and provide a higher-level of overall support during the time of transition to professional practice.

 

The Nurse Residency Program offers monthly seminars that will compliment nursing orientation and the unique training provided to Registered Nurses in our various units across the hospital.
