Job Schedule: Part Time
Standard Hours: 6
Job Shift: Shift 1
Shift Details: shifts vary 5-1pm or 1-7pm as needed includes some weekends and holidays

For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.

 

JOB SUMMARY
Obtains menu selections, preferences and allergic/intolerances from patients of all age groups. Ensures menus are accurate according to prescribed dietary order utilizing appropriate Hospital information systems.

Qualifications

Experience: One (1) year experience in nutrition related field preferred.

 
License and Certification: Certified Dietetic Technician preferred 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Basic computer skills (including opening/reading email, basic internet use).
Working knowledge of Basic Nutrition. Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with departments, employees, physicians and managers. Works efficiently and organizes time appropriately. Must be organized, flexible and a team player. Ability to manage time and meet deadlines in a hectic work environment. Commitment to customer service Basic computer knowledge in order to enter/retrieve data.


PROBLEM SOLVING AND DECISION MAKING
Good problem solving and/or decision making skills. Requires the ability to recognize problem situations and refer them to the appropriate staff member. Requires the ability to take the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems. Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
