where every moment
Every day, over 30,000 Hartford HealthCare employees come to work with one thing in common: Pride in what we do, knowing every moment matters here. We invite you to become part of Connecticut’s most comprehensive healthcare network.
Hartford Hospital is one of the largest and most respected teaching hospitals in New England. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center that provides cutting edge treatment to its patients. This is made possible by being home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us.
The Neuro-Surgical ICU is a 17 bed adult in-patient unit caring for critically ill Neurological, Neurosurgical and Neurotrauma patients, with diagnoses including stroke, head or spinal cord trauma, and brain hemorrhage. These patients require a staff specialized in intra-cranial and hemo-dynamic monitoring along with the use of vaso-active medications. Our team of RNs, support staff, dedicated Neurointensivists and Advanced Practitioners, promotes a collaborative, team-centered approach to produce optimal outcomes and deliver personalized, compassionate care. In this rewarding and exciting specialty, our team is highly motivated and has advanced critical thinking skills.
Functioning within the framework for professional nursing practice, the Patient Unit Manager supports and assists the Director. This position has 24 hour accountability for managing resources (human, material and financial), to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of patient services for specific patient populations, in a defined area across the continuum. This is accomplished by direct action, delegation, coaching and support of unit-based shared governance councils. Reports to Director of Service.
