The Physician Assistant will work in an ambulatory setting. Responsibilities include patient care coordination, a post-operative care within Bariatric Surgery guidelines, being an integral part of a comprehensive surgical and medical weight loss program, assisting with bariatric seminars, work groups, participating in various hospital committees, and tracking of patient work up’s. Surgical Weight loss Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants provide care for patients undergoing a medically-supervised obesity treatment & weight loss program in a comprehensive, team oriented bariatric medical clinic. The advanced practitioner will be responsible for evaluating patients in the preoperative process for weight loss surgery as well as the short and long term follow up, will provide weight management services including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating and educating patients. This role will work closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care. Patient management will include new patient consults, short and long term post-operative follow up, and coordination of patient care across multiple disciplines. In-office procedures will include Lap Band adjustments and possibly skin and soft tissue mass excision and complex wound care. This opportunity will require working in multiple satellite offices potentially including Farmington and Meriden. The candidate will benefit of extensive mentoring in a collaborative and collegiate environment. On call coverage may be required in addition to covering post op follow up’s of emergency patients. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with system quality initiatives.
