St. Vincent’s Medical Center is a 473-bed Magnet recognized community teaching hospital committed to continuing Christ’s healing ministry through its service to the greater Bridgeport, CT community. Our Emergency Department has a Trauma Level II designation, and is a primary Stroke and STEMI center. Our 66 beds are divided into multiple zones, including a separate Observation Unit, Fast-Track area, and Behavioral Health Crisis Unit. We pride ourselves on a culture of inclusivity, service and teamwork which extends throughout the department, from Providers who staff the unit 24/7 to our Unit Secretaries and Techs, who provide invaluable services to our patients.


Job Summary:

• Coordinates patient care and interdisciplinary team communication for Emergency Department cases.
• Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care. Performs quality assurance studies and assists with implementation of quality initiatives.
• Serves as resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to patient care, patient flow and clinical standards, policies and procedures.
• Monitors departmental compliance with regulatory and Joint Commission requirements.
• Maintains statistical data of programs for reporting on department activities to Manager as needed as well as outcomes of services.
• Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Active CT Registered Nurse license required prior to start date.
  • 2+ years recent RN experience required, Emergency Dept experience preferred.
  • Active BLS certification required prior to start date.
  • Excellent communication skills (both in-person and telephone), organizational skills, and compassionate approach to serving a wide variety of patients required.
