Job Summary:

In consultation with Pharmacy Manager and Director establish and implement policies, procedures, and standards to help ensure efficient workflow and patient care in a defined area or work group. Provide direct supervision a defined group of staff in defined area. Work collaborative with stakeholders outside of department to ensure work group is meeting customer expectations. Provide pharmacist clinical guidance to area of focus. Ability to staff in pharmacist role in work group.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Makes recommendations to Site Manager, Clinical Manager, and Director to ensure pharmacy or clinic practice in assigned area is optimized
2. Provide direct oversight to staff in defined work group including annual work performance appraisals.
3. Leads daily/monthly work group in assigned area as defined by pharmacy leadership team
4. Interfaces with outside stakeholders to ensure patient and customer needs are being met
5. Provides flexible scheduling coverage and assists in fulfilling staffing and on call requirements in both routine and unforeseen circumstances in accordance with departmental and hospital wide needs.
6. Maintains general pharmacy competencies and continuing education as well as competency in specialty role.
7. Proactively works with management to foster a culture of patient safety and acts upon and reports safety concerns appropriately and in accordance with hospital policy.

Qualifications

• PharmD degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• OR – licensed Pharmacists prior to 2002
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Three (3) or more years experience in a hospital pharmacy.
• Licensed as a registered Pharmacist in Connecticut or eligible to receive licensure within 45 days.
• Prior experience in a supervisory role preferred.
