Shift Details: 11:30pm-7:30pm e/o Sunday 10:00pm-8am every Monday & Tuesday

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut.  CHH offers personalized attention from an expert team of caregivers and physicians that utilize advanced technology and clinical partnerships in a convenient, safe and comfortable patient environment.

 

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Operates switchboard to relay incoming and outgoing telephone calls. Appropriately coordinates established protocols for emergency calls and alarms..

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Channels all incoming calls; provides direct numbers as required. Connects inside callers with out of state lines when appropriate. 90 50 1104
  2. Responds to emergency calls following established protocols. 90 50 1105
  3. Assists callers by using zip call or voice page as necessary, or other means. 90 50 1106
  4. Maintains physician callboard. 90 50 1111
  5. Operates television monitor to relay pages and messages in conference hall. 90 50 1112
  6. Maintains hourly communication with Security personnel to verify proper radio operations. 90 50 1114

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIREMENTS, AND DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

  1. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objective, quality assurance program and safety standards. 10 20 1023

  2. Informs maintenance department of any trouble lines reported by hospital personnel 90 50 1107

  3. Conducts a weekly test of the alarm system. 90 50 1113

  4. Updates Hospital and Physician telephone directory as necessary in order to maintain a complete and accurate listing. 90 50 1109

  5. Participates in education programs and inservice meetings. 10 70 1003

  6. Attends meetings as required. 10 80 1001.

  7. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

The job requires a High School graduate.

 

EXPERIENCE

The job requires less than six months of job related experience.
