St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital.

Job Summary:

  • Coordinates patient care and interdisciplinary team communication for oncology cases.


  • Serves as liaison for oncology programs.
  • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care. Performs quality assurance studies and assists with implementation of quality initiatives.
  • Serves as resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to patient care, patient flow and clinical standards, policies and procedures.
  • Monitors departmental compliance with regulatory and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide support and education to oncology patients throughout their trajectory of care to achieve desired outcomes for the patient with consideration of age, educational readiness and cultural differences.
  • Maintains statistical data of programs for reporting on department activities to Manager as needed as well as outcomes of services.
  • Maintains an interdisciplinary approach to patient care, support and resource referrals. Participates in the Multidisciplinary Cancer Care Team and attends Tumor Board Conferences.
    Performs appropriate assessments of oncology cancer patients and identifies physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, social, and age-related needs in order to provide individualized care, support and resources to the patient. Identifies and addresses barriers that may arise.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Connecticut Department of Public Health obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • One or more of the following:
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Red Cross obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Preferred Credential(s):
  • Certified Certification specializing in Oncology credentialed from the Oncology
  • Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC).


  • BSN Required.
Work Experience:

  • 2 years oncology experience required.
