We are looking for a Nurse Educator who will work closely to identify educational needs/opportunities within the department. This individual will possess a strong knowledge base in teaching and learning theories; curriculum design; methods for validation of learning and innovative options. Collaboration between clinical department leaders and education department, the Nurse Educator uses innovative technologies and strategies to strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving abilities of the learner. Creates an environment that promotes professional practice. 


The Educator coordinates, facilitates and provides a comprehensive orientation program for all new members of nursing services. Plans and/or conducts in services and mandatory education programs for hospital clinical staff as required by regulatory agencies. Promotes a culture that supports life-long learning and professional development for clinical staff.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Graduate of a school of nursing. Master's Degree in Nursing or currently enrolled in a program and on track to complete within four (4) years of hire.

Experience:
Five (5) years recent acute care experience. Three (3) years clinical experience in focus area of job responsibility.

License and Certification:
Current unrestricted license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut. Ability to obtain and maintain department specific certifications. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Education:

Master’s degree in Nursing.

Experience:
Five (5) years of clinical experience in the area of expertise required.

License and Certification:
Certified Nurse Educator (CNE). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
