Description

Work where every moment matters.

Every day, almost 25,000 Hartford HealthCare employees come to work with one thing in common: Pride in what we do, knowing every moment matters here. We invite you to become part of Connecticut’s most comprehensive healthcare network.

The creation of the HHC System Support Office recognizes the work of a large and growing group of employees whose responsibilities are continually evolving so that we and our departments now work on behalf of the system as a whole, rather than a single member organization.
With the creation of our new umbrella organization we now have our own identity with a unique payroll, benefits, performance management system, service recognition programs and other common practices across the system.

Department Overview:

The Emergency Department (ED) at Hartford Hospital treats over 100,000 adult patients per year with conditions ranging from major trauma, heart attacks and stroke to more minor illness. In addition the ED admits over 20,000 patients to the hospital. We are accredited as a Level I Trauma Center, a Stroke Center and a Chest Pain Center. We are the main clinical site of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine’s Emergency Medicine Residency and are active in the training of PA/NP's and nurses. Patients come to us by all means of transportation ranging from their own automobiles to ambulances, including Hartford Hospital’s LIFE STAR helicopter.

Job Summary:

  • Registrar will be responsible for proper patient identification, obtaining demographic and payer information as well as collecting patient financial liability in the ED.
  • Basic knowledge of insurance benefits and terminology are strongly recommended.
  • Attention to detail, multi- tasking, adaption to change and strong communication skills are required.
  • Registrar must have computer knowledge and be able to push a computer cart for the duration of shift as there are minimal stationary responsibilities.
  • Due to the ED being a direct patient care area there could be circumstances that may mandate you to stay past your scheduled shift.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • One year experience in hospital or insurance billing preferred.
  • Excellent verbal communications skills

We take great care of careers.

With locations around the state, Hartford HealthCare offers exciting opportunities for career development and growth. Here, you are part of an organization on the cutting edge – helping to bring new technologies, breakthrough treatments and community education to countless men, women and children. We know that a thriving organization starts with thriving employees-- we provide a competitive benefits program designed to ensure work/life balance. Every moment matters. And this is your moment.
