St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincent’s is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the system’s second-largest hospital.

Job Summary:

Performs all Sterile Processing Services duties independently and at an advanced level including decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization, and case cart assembly. Demonstrates knowledge of and fulfills all processing and documentation requirements to ensure the efficient distribution of high quality sterile products that meet customer expectations.   Maintains and demonstrates an advanced knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, utilization, and sterile processing. Works in collaboration with peri-operative services to provide appropriate surgical instrumentation.  Functions as the SPS training resource for new staff members and validating their skill levels.  Participates in quality safety council meetings.  Functions as the Shift Lead when needed.  

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • 5+ years of SPS experience.
  • Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required.
  • Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) through CBSPD or IAHCSMM required. 
  • Ability to read, write and speak English required.
