The Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center has been designated as the first Care Partner of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) in the United States. Hartford HealthCare is set to open a new state-of-the-art cancer center at 4185 Black Rock Turnpike near the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield in April 2025. The 25,000-square-foot facility will offer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, surgical consultations, imaging and laboratory testing on site.
The Chief Radiation Therapist is an advanced technical supervisory role which provides clinical expertise for day to day operations for the Radiation Oncology Department. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:
· Under supervision of the Radiation Oncology Manager coordinates radiation therapist assignments. Collaborating with other roles to ensure smooth transition of patient care.
· Provides direct daily oversight of clinical treatment schedules including warmup, therapist lunch coverage, and end of day coverage.
· Administer radiation therapy as prescribed by the physician (GE CT Sim, Varian Novalis Tx, Varian True Beam, Nucletron HDR. & Varian Ethos with adaptive planning).
· Orientating, and training staff on new procedures/equipment and keeping staff up to date on competencies.
· Assist with Radiation Therapy School students assigned to the Radiation Oncology department. Responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments and simulations as prescribed and instructed by the radiation oncologist in accordance to the established standards. Assists in the continuity of patient care
Qualifications
Education:
· Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program
Experience:
· Five (5) years in radiation oncology experience required
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
· Valid Connecticut State Radiographers License
· ARRT Certification in Radiation Therapy
