The Hospital of Central Connecticut is an acute-care community teaching hospital, we provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine and surgery, as well as a wide variety of specialties. Job Summary
The surgical technologist facilitates the invasive procedure/ surgical care of the patient maintaining an aseptic environment. They insures that all required instrumentation, supplies and equipment are readily available.

Responsibilities:
Maintains aseptic technique

Oversees care and cleaning of instrumentation and use of autoclave.

Assists with patient preparation and positioning.

Prepares suites for procedures.

Functions as a member of the team, exhibiting excellent communication skills and developing positive working relationships with all team members.

Exhibits competency in vascular, cardiac and IR specialties.

Serves as a preceptor for new employees as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Graduation of approved Surgical Technology Program or certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting organization (NBSTSA) at time of hire.

Critical Success Factors: Surgical Technologist Certification preferred. 1 year related work experience preferred. Critical thinking skills, motivation to learn new skills, and organizational skills. Ability to work in stressful environment. Manual dexterity.
