Job Summary
Our Nurses work in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a patient centered care model in a richly diverse work space. Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff. The registered nurse who through knowledge and ability uses the nursing process to develop a plan of care which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family.

The Cardiology Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care for both inpatient and outpatient populations. The cardiology nurse provides care to patients undergoing diagnostic cardiac procedures.
Responsibilities:

  • Supervises Nuclear SPECT/PET stress testing exams
  • Demonstrates ability to identify abnormal cardiac rhythms on 12 lead EKG rhythm strips
  • Demonstrates ability to practice ACLS provider duties within scope of practice.
  • Demonstrates skill in performing technical aspects of tilt table, cardiac stress test.
  • Adheres to risk management policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competence in nursing skills and performs nursing actions consistent with policies, procedures and protocols. 
  • Responds appropriately to actual or anticipated emergencies.
  • Provides for physical and psychological safety and comfort of patients and/or families.
  • Assesses the patient/family for learning and educational needs related to current health problems.
  • Collects data about the health status of patients in a systematic manner based on scientific knowledge. 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 1 year of Cardio-diagnostic, Critical Care, or other Cardiac specialty nursing experience.
  • ACLS provider certified (or within 6 months of hire)
  • impulse course completion and knowledge of 12 lead rhythm interpretation (or within 6 months of hire)
  • Current Connecticut RN License.
  • Graduated of an accredited Nursing School (BSMN preferred).
