N8 Women’s Health is a 29 bed medical/surgical and High Risk Obstetrical unit serving the unique needs of all women. Our High Risk OB consists of stable obstetrical patients such as high risk antepartum, and postpartum women whose newborns are in the NICU. We care for patients recovering from gynecological, uro-gynecology, and gyn/onc procedures as well as plastic surgery and abdominal procedures. In addition, we care for patients with medical conditions not requiring telemetry monitoring.
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Patient Care Technician performs delegated functions as a member of a patient care team to provide a variety of services. These activities contribute to meeting the health care, safety and comfort needs of patients, and are performed in accordance with all existing regulatory and hospital standards, policies and procedures. Reports to Unit Manager.
Qualifications
• A minimum of 1 year previous patient care experience required.
• Specific experience as designated by work area may be required.
• Effective communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak English, and perform basic Mathematics.
• CPR validation within 3 months of hire.
• Physical effort as specified by Position Physical Requirements and Occupational Exposure form.
• Specific certification as designated by work area may be required.
Preferred:
• Certification as nursing assistant (CNA).
• Matriculation in a nursing program.
• Completion of education in a related health field (i.e. medical assistant program, EMT certification, etc.).
• Previous patient care experience; specific experience as designated by work area maybe required
Demonstrated competencies in a related field at Hartford Hospital.
