Vascular Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (APRN) Role Scope
The Vascular Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner practices in an outpatient ambulatory setting running parallel with an attending surgeon as well as running their own independent sessions. The advance practice provider will have a high level of autonomy managing complex vascular patients. They will be expected to maintain flexibility during busy office sessions. The Vascular Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will need to be able to recognize scenarios which would require escalation of care.
The Vascular Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will manage a patient panel for pre-op, post op, and annual follow up patients as well as new consults. Patient conditions include, but are not limited to carotid artery disease, aortic aneurysms, and lower extremity peripheral arterial disease. Additional responsibilities include wound care, following up on imaging, assisting with triage of new patients/emergency work ins, assisting nursing with clinical questions and concerns, wound checks, staple removal, and general vascular patient care. Practice locations include Hartford, Norwich, and Mystic.
