Job Summary:

The System Neurodiagnostic Education Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the education and career development of all the technologists in Hartford Healthcare.  This unique position emphasizes the vital nature of workforce development within neurodiagnostics. We value our team, and feel that formalized attention to skill acquisition and career development is the best way to build a strong team and provide the best care to the patients we serve.  There are currently 24 EEG tech FTEs in our 7 labs, including the surgical center and epilepsy monitoring unit in Hartford Hospital.  The Education Supervisor will collaborate closely with our the Lab Managers, System Director of Neurodiagnostics, and Epilepsy Medical Director to continue developing our educational program. Our senior techs, supervisors and EEG faculty are all very supportive of our education program and enjoy helping develop the skills and confidence of all our technologist colleagues.

Job Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

1.     Responsible for continuing the development and implementation of formal educational programs for:

a.     Onboarding new staff

b.     ABRET board exam prep

c.      Preceptor training and oversight

d.     Tracking and advancement of individual techs through more complex procedures (eg. SPECT, live EEG monitoring, Wada, intracranial EEG)

e.     Leadership and H3W skills

f.       Cross training of neurodiagnostic modalities

g.     Partnering with educators of our collaborators (nurse, nuclear medicine, etc)

h.     Training and development of new technology

i.       Oversight of training schedule to ensure equal opportunities for techs at all lab locations

2.     Intermittent direct oversight for daily operations, in support of colleague supervisors

Qualifications

 • Graduate of a school of neurophysiology and/or Associates degree acceptable.

 • Minimum 5 years clinical experience performing complex EEG evaluations. Competency in EEG related computer hardware and software. Expert level of competency in neurodiagnostic procedures and knowledge.

 • Minimum 1 year experience in teaching and/ or oversight of EEG Techs.

 • Current Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic (EEG) and Evoked Potential (EP) Technologists (ABRET).
